Red Cross Week 2012 (by BritishRedCross)
A vintage style public information film that I shot for the British Red Cross during the particularly sunny days we had in London during the end of March.
It was surprisingly challenging to a) shoot something 4:3 protect (not done that for a very long time), and b) try and make sure nothing betrayed us as being from 2012, and not 1952. I think the background is pretty safe but let us know if you spot any historical anachronisms!
Thomas Orger Showreel 2012
It’s finally here! I have been agonising over this for soooo long but now I have an edit that I’m really proud of and I want to share with the world.
So please watch (it’s under 3 minutes) and let me know what you think!
Lilygreen & Maguire - Domino (Jessie J Cover)
Some ace comments coming through on this performance that I filmed (with the help of Bud and Jamie from Lemonade Money) and edited last week.
The location (Angel Studios) is awesome as well. These boys are supporting Olly Murs on tour at the moment, so expect to hear more from them pretty soon I reckon.
Gadget Geeks 360
Last night saw the first episode of Sky 1’s new gadget show ‘Gadget Geeks’, which means that the online content directed by me way back in September, is now trickling onto the internet for all to see! Click the link above to watch on the Sky website.
These first ones were shot in the studio by Iain Slater, Dave White and David Smith, later on they let us out on location and I shot it myself, and was ably assisted at all times by super runner Andy Bainbridge.
Shot and edited by me for @lemonadymoney new girl band Stooshe present their cover of Emeli Sande’s ‘Daddy’.
Main camera: Bud Gallimore
Additional camera: James Payne, Thomas Orger
i-D online | i-N Session: Stooshe (by idmagazineonline)
Latest bit of my work with the ever amazing @lemonademoney is this acoustic session for i-D magazine by new female UK threesome @StooShe - the location was this amazing warehouse apartment in Haggerston and I think all of us secretly wished it was their lounge!
Big up to Bud Galliamore, James Payne, Chris Russell and Phil Wilson for their filming, directing and general kick-arse doings on the day.
p.s. no idea why it’s cropped to 4x3 - oh well!
#wretch32invasion
So the Hollyoaks / Wretch32 mashup has just gone out on Channel 4, I was privileged to be a part of it and operate a camera during the gig. If you missed it, it’ll be out on 4OD in mere moments, but here’s a teaser I filmed with Wretch the week before to whet the appetite!
And whilst we’re on about drum and bass tings… I’m currently editing a performance video that Stooshe have done of Emeli Sandé’s ‘Daddy’, which brings me on to this breathtaking remix:
Emeli Sandé - Daddy (Fred V & Grafix Remix) (by UKFDrumandBass)
Rusko - Everyday (Netsky Remix) (by UKFDrumandBass)
One of the best ‘people at raves’ style music videos I’ve seen for ages and also an absolute TUNE!
Success TV - Wk 5: How to pull a sickie (by nokiauk)
Still one of my favourite videos I made for Nokia’s Success TV, Danny Robins is a genius!
Teens meet London Eye engineer Jane Wernick (by Talent2030)
Something a little different this time - I was asked by agency Champollion to produce a video about encouraging young teens (particularly girls) into considering a career in engineering. What resulted is a really positive piece of film that shows just how inspirational young people can be when they’re given the right encouragement!
Shakka Interview & Performances
It’s online! This is a little something I’ve been working on for the last few weeks for my friend Aissetou N’gom - an interview and performances with Shakka - a singer songwriter from Notting Hill who loves to mix genres and has an amazing voice.
My favourite bit is this storming performance of his song ‘Driving’.. which we did in literally 10 minutes, but Shakka gives it his all and with a bit of help from my Back to the Future camera, there’s a really nice old skool look too!
I love doing stuff like this, working with real talents that for whatever reason haven’t been fully discovered yet, but one day HAVE to be HUGE, and always want to do more, so if you know anyone, get them to holler @thomasorgerfilm.
Enjoy :)
Bill Gates & Steve Ballmer rocking out to Haddaway.
Well this is just all sorts of win!
The Magic of Reality (iPad app)
I animated the illustrations in this amazing iPad app produced by my chum Trevor Klein at somethinelse. It was something a bit different than plain old full screen video, and the results are pretty nice if I say so myself.
Even Paxman has had a go with it:
If you’re lucky enough to actually have an iPad, you can check the app out here on iTunes. Link.
MTV Yoostar
My good friend David Smith (Smithy to you and me), has directed this promo for what looks like UTTER VOODOO from the XBox Kinect folks - they’ve teamed up with MTV and without a green screen you can play parts in your favourite MTV shows! It looks pretty amazing and Smithy’s done a really nice job with the lighting and hopefully they’ll get him to do some more. ‘big up’ as they say!
